UPDATE: We are pleased to announce FREE breakfast and lunch meals for all students for the entire 2020-2021 school year for Jones County students. Meal applications, however, are still needed and being processed at
Although we use the results of the free and reduced percentages for student meals reports, they are also used for many other programs such as E-rates (technology equipment and discounts for the district) and Title 1 federal funding. We sincerely thank you for your cooperation and support in these efforts.
The free meals are made available through USDA and the nationwide waivers it has extended for School Food Authorities( SFA) to operate under the Seamless Summer Option (SSO). This means that meals can be served free of charge to students and other children in the community ages 0-18, during the COVID-19 outbreak.
For students enrolled in the Jones County Virtual Academy, parents/guardians may pick up breakfast and lunch meals at each school site between 10:00-11:30 AM on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Parents must provide the names and base school for each student that meals are picked up for. Please call (478) 986-1390 on Mondays to place orders for meal pickup on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Meals, Smart Snacks and beverages sold or served at school by the Nutrition teams meet state and federal requirements which are based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines. We provide students with access to a variety of affordable and appealing foods that meet the health and nutrition needs of students. Our nutrition team at each school is ready to assist in any way possible.
